Support LABCA & The Pink Project with Crown Coffee

The Pink Project book cover If you drink coffee we are asking for your help! The Pink Project (a LABCA supporter) has joined with Crown Coffee, an amazing coffee company with a local following for their fair trade, organic coffee. Crown Coffee sells online coffee memberships and has offered to donate 100% of the first month's dues along with an ongoing 10% of every new annual membership to The Pink Project! By drinking Crown Coffee, you can enjoy coffee of the highest caliber, and also support The Pink Project.

A Crown Coffee membership will bring 2 bags of coffee to your door every month. Choose your coffee and either whole or ground bean and at any time you may email Crown Coffee to select different coffees from their family of fair trade, micro-roasted coffees. In addition, all Crown Coffee memberships come with FREE SHIPPING. Sign up at Crown Coffee. Be sure to select The Pink Project as the organization you want to support. In addition if you put in the comments section "Friend of The Pink Project", they will give the full first month membership dues to The Pink Project ($24.99 for each person). No only will you be drinking the best coffee out there, but you will help The Pink Project collect $25,000 and about $1,000 each month after that.

Presidential Candidates and the Fight Against Breast Cancer

You are invited to read and listen to what our presidential candidates have to say about protecting and advancing four issues that are critical to a victory in the fight against breast cancer...

  1. Guaranteed access to quality health care for all;
  2. Department of Defense dollars to support breast cancer research;
  3. A national strategy to study the role of the environment in the development of breast cancer; and
  4. Treatment for uninsured women with breast and cervical cancer.

You can learn more about these issues and hear what the candidates have to say at BreastCancerCaucus.org. After you've watched their videos and read their responses, NBCC wants to hear from you! Visit the Breast Cancer Caucus to vote for the candidate you feel has the best plan to eradicate breast cancer.

LABCA hosts an Afternoon Tea for Young Survivors of Breast Cancer

yellow sunflower Last spring LABCA hosted a tea for young women aged 45 and under who were diagnosed with breast cancer. The issues facing young survivors with breast cancer was the topic of conversation. Some of the ideas collected include dating, fertility, dealing with small children, the loss of a parent and legal matters, such as discrimination with health insurance and in the work place. In response to this, LABCA is developing a program for young breast cancer survivors. If you or someone you know is under the age of 45, have been diagnosed with breast cancer, and are interested in details on a future afternoon tea or more information on LABCA's Young Survivors programs, please contact us. This program is made possible by a grant from the Linda Tallen & David Paul Kane Educational and Research Foundation.

AstraZeneca expansion of Patient Assistance Program
AstraZeneca has expanded the number of people eligible for its Patient Assistance Program (PAP) by raising the annual income limit from 250 percent of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) to approximately 300 percent FPL. This means individuals who earn $30,000 or less, or a family of four earning $60,000 or less, who do not have prescription drug coverage can get all of their AstraZeneca's medicines for free. The AstraZeneca Patient Assistance Program also provides one-on-one education and information to help individuals identify and access health and drug coverage and services for which they may be eligible - even if they aren't associated with AstraZeneca.

Please visit LABCA's Drug Assistance Program page for AstraZeneca's contact information as well as the contact info for other pharmaceutical companies offering similar programs.
